Thursday Volleyball: Beckville Goes 3-0 in Pool Play At Tyler Tournament

TYLER -- The Beckville Ladycats went 3-0 Thursday during pool play at the Tyler Tournament.

Beckville earned wins over Tatum (25-20, 25-10), Tyler Lee (25-18, 26-24), and Sulphur Springs (27-25, 25-18).

Riley Seegers led Beckville (11-0) against Tatum with eight kills, three blocks, one ace, and six digs. Jordan Tondreau added five kills, a block, and two digs, Payton Jones had four kills, an ace, and 19 digs, Miranda Mize finished with four kills and nine digs, while Kinley Pepper racked up 24 assists and 10 digs, and Courtlyn Nail chipped in with three aces and 10 digs.

Against Lee, Jones paced Beckville with seven kills, one block, and five digs. Hannah Humphries added six kills and three digs, Tondreau provided four kills, three aces, and three digs, and Seegers had four kills, one block, and a dig. Pepper had 22 assists, a kill, and four digs, while Nail finished with two aces and 14 digs.

Seegers ignited Beckville's sweep of Sulphur Springs with seven kills, one block, an ace, and two digs. Tondreau finished with five kills, a block, a pair of aces, and three digs, Humphries had five kills and three digs, while Pepper chipped in with 21 assists and seven digs, and Nail had an ace and 11 digs.

Beckville continues tournament play at 9 a.m. Saturday from John Tyler High School.

Carthage Wins Twice in Forney

FORNEY -- The Carthage Lady Dawgs picked up two wins Thursday during pool play at the Forney ISD Tournament.

Carthage (14-6) took a 25-16, 25-12 victory over Garland Lakeview Centennial, and followed that up by sweeping Gainesville, 25-6, 25-11.

Matti Doffitt and Dede Pope had six kills apiece against Lakeview, while Courtney Edge and Laney Harkrider combined for 14 digs.

Against Gainesville, Doffitt again led the way with eight kills. Savannah Gwinn and McKenna Zett had three kills apiece, Edge finished with 13 digs, and Addi Blissett chipped in with seven digs.

Carthage continues with bracket play in Forney this weekend.

Emory Rains Splits in Forney

FORNEY -- The Emory Rains Ladycats split their two matches Thursday at the Forney ISD Tournament.

Following a 25-16, 20-25, 25-22 loss to Denton Braswell, Rains (4-8) responded with a 22-25, 25-17, 25-20 defeat of Richardson Berkner.

Shelbi Sheppard paced Rains vs. Braswell with nine kills, 11 assists, and 11 digs. Summer Nerkowski added eight kills, three aces, and 11 digs, while McKenna Hildebrandt and Kaitlin McIntyre combined on seven blocks, and Vivian Bradshaw assisted on 11 assists.

In the win over Berkner, Sheppard had seven kills, 13 assists, two aces, and nine digs. Hildebrandt followed with six kills and five blocks, Jordyn Robertson had six kills, McIntyre registered three blocks, Bradshaw finished with seven assists, while Presley McAree chipped in with two aces and nine digs.

Rains plays host to Greenville on Friday before returning to Forney for bracket play Saturday.
