Thursday Volleyball: Emory Rains Goes Unbeaten in Brownsboro Tournament
BROWNSBORO -- The Emory Rains Ladycats finished first in its pool by going 3-0 Thursday at the Brownsboro Tournament.
Rains (11-10) earned wins over Overton (25-6, 25-12), Mineola (25-13, 25-15), and Brownsboro's JV (25-6, 25-10).
McKenna Hildebrandt led the way against Overton with nine kills. Summer Nerkowski added six kills and three digs, Kaitlin McIntyre had three blocks, while Shelbi Sheppard finished with 10 assists, five aces, and three digs.
In the win over Mineola, Sheppard had six kills, three blocks, nine assists, two aces, and 10 digs. Hildebrandt added five kills and four blocks, McIntyre had three blocks, Vivian Bradshaw racked up six assists, and Elissa Elliott chipped in with an ace and 10 digs.
Sheppard sparked Rains against Brownsboro's JV with seven kills, four aces, and seven digs. Hildebrandt added four blocks, while Bradshaw finished with eight assists.
Rains hosts a dual match against Kaufman and North Forney on Friday before returning to Brownsboro for gold bracket play Saturday.
