
Thursday Volleyball Roundup: Carlisle Wins Three Matches + Rains Reaches Gold Bracket In Brownsboro Tournament
PRICE -- Carlisle won three matches Thursday in the Winona Tournament and will face Center in bracket play Saturday.
The team started its day with a 25-16, 25-16 sweep against Gladewater. Julie Smith led the way with four aces, five digs and two kills in the match.
It took a little bit more for Carlisle to get past Carthage's junior varsity team later in the day, but Smith served up six five aces and recorded 10 kills en route to a 25-23, 24-26, 25-20 win. Ceci Deleon scored a team-best 24 assists in that match.
Carlisle closed its day with a 25-15, 21-25, 25-21 win against Cross Roads. Smith was the leader once again with 11 kills and six aces.
The three wins pushed Carlisle's record to 10-9.
Carlisle will host Harmony at 4:30 p.m. today at home before returning to Winona for a 9 a.m. meeting Saturday with Center.
Emory Rains Goes 2-1 At Brownsboro Tournament
BROWNSBORO -- Despite a loss to Alba-Golden, Rains reached Saturday's gold bracket of the Brownsboro Tournament with wins against Liberty-Eylau and Tyler Grace Community.
The Lady Cats defeated Liberty-Eylau, 25-12, 25-13. They then fell to Alba-Golden, 27-25, 25-23, before rallying for a 25-12, 25-13 match victory against Grace.
Rains will host Kaufman today at home before returning to Brownsboro for gold bracket play Saturday.
