West Rusk Notches Sixth Shutout of 2017 Against Buffalo in Area Round
BULLARD -- L.J. Harper accounted for three touchdowns and West Rusk's defense shut out an opponent for the sixth time this season in the Raiders' 35-0 win over Buffalo on Friday in a Class 3A Division II area playoff at Panther Stadium.
West Rusk (10-1) will face Newton in the regional round next week, while Buffalo's season ended at 10-2.
Harper ran for two first-half touchdowns, which coupled with scoring runs by Gage White (25 yards) and D.J. Hart (60 yards), helped West Rusk take a 28-0 lead at halftime.
The only score of the second half came on a 25-yard touchdown pass from Harper to Levi Hughes with 9:02 left in the fourth quarter.
Harper finished the game with 88 yards on the ground while throwing for 105 yards on 8 of 16 passing.
West Rusk, which has outscored its two playoff opponents 77-7, rushed for 321 yards in the win.
