WHITE OAK -- White Oak paid homage to military veterans prior to Friday night's game before delivering an impressive performance on the field.

Jansen McCurdy caught five passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns to help lead White Oak to a 36-3 win over rival Spring Hill at Roughneck Stadium.

The win improved White Oak to 3-0 record and dropped Spring Hill to 1-2 on the early season.

White Oak senior quarterback Dylan Gale completed 16-of-23 passes for 238 yards and three touchdowns, while teammate Riley Lakin had 14 carries for 82 yards and three catches for 32 yards and a touchdown.

White Oak dominated the game defensively by forcing four turnovers, and did not take long to capitalize.

Fumbles and penalties handcuffed Spring Hill throughout the night.

White Oak used only three plays to find the end zone on its opening possession. Gale found McCurdy on a hitch route and, after eluding one tackler, McCurdy raced down the sideline for a 69-yard touchdown. A successful two-point conversion run by Gale gave White Oak a 8-0 lead.

White Oak gained 121 yards on its two second-quarter possessions — the first ending with a 5-yard pass from Gale to Lakin and the second on a Lakin fumble that lineman Mickey McFall recovered in the end zone for a 22-0 lead with 4:00 remaining in the half.

Spring Hill’s Troy Duran closed the half with a 35-yard field goal as time expired to put Spring Hill on the board and trim White Oak's lead to 22-3.

Cass Carr closed the third quarter with a 94-yard fumble return for a touchdown and a 29-3 lead, and Gale connected with McCurdy on fourth-and-4 for a 31-yard touchdown.

Spring Hill quarterback Jacob Rooney completed 13-of-24 passes for 200 yards and two interceptions in the loss. Junior receivers James Wallis and Michael Spurrier combined for seven catches and 114 yards.

Spring Hill travels to Bullard next Friday to take on Brook Hill, while White Oak will host Ore City.
