Whitehouse’s Mitchell Melrose Commits to Abilene Christian
One of East Texas' top linemen made his college decision over the weekend.
Whitehouse senior offensive lineman Mitchell Melrose announced his commitment to Abilene Christian via Twitter on Sunday.
Melrose (6-5, 230) received the ACU offer in December.
The Wildcats' standout enjoyed success as a defender in 2017 after beginning his career on the offensive line.
Melrose finished with 50 tackles, including 12 for loss and four sacks in helping Whitehouse to a 6-5 record and berth in the bi-district round of the Class 4A Division II playoffs.
Abilene Christian is an FCS school that competes in the Southland Conference. The Wildcats, who were 2-9 in 2017, are coached by Adam Dorrel.
Melrose, like all seniors, can officially sign with any program that offers him on Feb. 7.
