Baseball + Softball Roundup: Lufkin Hudson Baseball Tops Forney; Elysian Fields Softball Splits Two Games
TYLER — Trevor Adams pitched a complete game to lead Lufkin Hudson to a 6-3 win against Forney on Saturday at the 22nd Annual Rose City Classic at Mike Carter Field.
Adams struck out seven, walked three, and allowed eight hits in seven innings.
Hudson’s Colby Johnson singled and drove in three runs, while Micah Ellison had a single, a double, and one RBI. Adams and Luke English each had an RBI. Audy Clary, Anthony Doss, and Blake Nerren had a single apiece.
Elysian Fields Splits Two Games at Ark-La-Tex Elite Tournament
MARSHALL — Elysian Fields played a pair of low-scoring games Saturday at the Ark-La-Tex Elite Tournament, beating Tatum 2-0 and losing 3-2 to Huntington.
Mace Lovelace pitched 3 2/3 innings to get the win against Tatum. Keely Howard got the save, pitching the final 3 1/3 innings after entering the game with the bases loaded and two outs.
Elysian Fields scores its two runs in the third inning. Jane Harris was 2-for-3 with an RBI double, while Montanna Methvin went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Kaylee Prather was 1-for-4.
Tatum’s Morgan Dison went 2-for-4. Nicole Aldridge, who took the hard-luck loss in the circle, was 2-for-3. Taylor Williams was 1-for-3.
Harris had two more RBIs in EF’s 5-2 loss to Huntington, which got a 2-for-3 performance from Ericka Wright. Huntington’s Jade Sones, who was 1-for-2, got the win with seven strikeouts and one walk.
Elysian Fields’ Prather and Melody Chmiel were each 1-for-2. Howard was a hard-luck loser against Huntington, striking out two, walking three, and yielding zero earned runs.
