Brownsboro Rolls Past Troup + Into Saturday’s Apache Bracket Title Game Of Wagstaff Holiday Classic

TYLER — After narrowly escaping Bullard in its first-round matchup Thursday, the Brownsboro Bears had little trouble Friday, posting a 67-52 victory over Troup in a Apache Bracket semifinal at the Wagstaff Holiday Classic.

Brownsboro (10-8) advanced to the Apache Bracket championship game where it will face Tyler Grace at 7 p.m. Saturday from Tyler Junior College’s Wagstaff Gym.

Tamrick Pace led Brownsboro with 18 points, five rebounds and four assists. After being shut out in the opening quarter, Pace scored nine in the second period as the Bears built a 29-18 halftime advantage.

Brownsboro extended its lead in the second half, building a 21-point advantage late in the fourth quarter.

Quentin McKenzie added 12 points, six rebounds and two assists for Brownsboro, while Will Bailey chipped in with 11 points, four boards and four assists in the winning effort.

Troup (3-12), which never led in the game, was paced by Lou Roberson, who finished with 18 points and six rebounds. Anfernee Ross contributed 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals in defeat.

Troup will face Chapel Hill at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Apache Bracket’s third-place game.
