TYLER -- The Lady Lions got a three-set win against Lufkin on Friday to move to 5-3 in District 16-5A.

John Tyler won the match, 25-7, 25-17, 25-19.

Donisha Rouege and Chenique Baxter each had six kills and eight digs as team-bests in the match for the winning side. Rouege also recorded five blocks. Baxter rounded out her stat line with two aces.

The Lady Lions will be back in action Tuesday at Nacogdoches. Lufkin will face Jacksonville in its next district match.

 

Van Takes The Lead In District 14-4A

CANTON -- Van and Canton squared off for the lead in the District 14-4A race Friday.

The Lady Vandals swept the Lady Eagles, 25-20, 25-17, 25-14.

Hallee Carter led Van with 12 kills and two blocks. She also had a team-best 10 digs in the match. Alli Lloyd, Jasiee Harris and Bri Thompson recorded nine digs in the match. Thompson trailed only Carter with 11 kills while Lloyd and Harris each had four kills.

M'Kenna Daniel was a part of pretty much all of it with 27 assists.

Van will visit Wills Point on Tuesday. Canton hits the road to battle Emory Rains.

Carthage Takes Down Henderson

CARTHAGE -- The Lady Dawgs took on Henderson and won, 25-23, 25-17, 25-19 Friday.

Carthage was led by UT-Arlington commitment Marisah Ingram's 13 kills. Alli Caps chipped in 12 kills and Faith Landrenaux rounded out top scorers with eight kills. Kenzie Templeton aided the trio with 32 assists. Kaitlyn Nutt put up a team-best 17 digs.

The Lady Dawgs are 22-11 and 5-0 in District 19-4A.

Carthage will remain at home to square off with Rusk on Tuesday. Henderson will remain on the road and play Tatum.
