Gilmer’s Josh Walker the Third East Texan Selected to 2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl
Gilmer's Josh Walker on Thursday became the fourth East Texan in the 2014 class to be invited to a national high school all-star game in January.
The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Texas A&M linebacker pledge was invited to play in the 2014 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, joining Mount Pleasant receiver K.D. Cannon (6-0, 160; 18 offers) and Jasper center Terrell Cuney (6-3, 260), who is committed to Texas.
Nacogdoches offensive lineman Jacob Bragg (6-3, 300) received an invitation to the Under Armour All-America Game on Tuesday. Bragg has offers from Kansas and Louisiana Tech.
Walker, who is committed to Texas A&M, had 114 tackles, nine sacks, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries from his spot on the edge of the Buckeyes' 50 front 3-4 defense in 2012, which ended in a 14-2 record and Class 3A Division II state championship appearance. Offensively, Walker carried the ball 92 times for 622 yards and 15 touchdowns while catching 19 passes for 275 yards and three touchdowns.
Cannon, Cuney, and Walker will give the U.S. Army game its ninth consecutive year with at least one East Texan participating. The 2014 game is January 4 at San Antonio's Alamodome.
