Saturday Soccer Roundup: Kilgore, Tyler Lee Boys Secure Perfect Tourney Runs + Whitehouse Girls Tie Pine Tree
KILGORE -- Tyler Lee and Kilgore each recorded a victory Saturday at the Michael Merritt Annual Tournament to earn identical 3-0 marks during the event.
Kilgore got a goal apiece from Jose Rico and Christian Perales in the Bulldogs' 2-0 victory over Palestine. Kilgore held its three opponents scoreless during the three-day tournament, outscoring them 7-0.
Rico and Perales assisted each other's goals.

Pine Tree + Whitehouse Tie 2-2 to Cap Lady Pirate Tournament
LONGVIEW -- Whitehouse battled Pine Tree to a 2-2 tie Saturday, but that didn't prevent the Lady Pirates from accumulating the most points in the final standings of the Lady Pirate Tournament.
Pine Tree (2-0-1) finished the three-day event with 23 points, followed by Corsicana (18), Whitehouse (13), and Nacogdoche (1).
"I feel there were a lot of positive things that happen this weekend and I hope to build on them," said Pine Tree coach Daniel Rich.
Whitehouse scored two minutes into the match, but Pine Tree tied it later in the half on a Whitehouse own goal caused by a Lilly Cabrera shot deflected off a Wildcat defender.
Pine Tree took a 2-1 lead into halftime thanks to Amanda Wallin's 97th career goal off an Victoria Flores assist. Whitehouse tied the match with 12 minutes remaining off a corner kick.
