TEXARKANA -- Texas High hopped into a tie for fourth place in the late District 15-5A playoff race Tuesday with a 41-33 victory against Pine Tree. It didn't come easy though. The Lady Tigers had to withstand a Lady Pirates' rally attempt in the fourth quarter to advance to a 6-6 record within the league.

Bishop Gorman's 2015 Macy Chenevert Patriot Holiday Classic, featuring 14 East Texas basketball teams and two private school teams from the Dallas area, begins Tuesday and runs through Thursday in Tyler. WINONA -- Mykaela Alfred, Princess Suell and Kyia Moore had big games in Chapel Hill's 68-38 win against Winona in the Winona Tournament.

BULLARD -- Erin Brinkley turned in a strong performance against Bullard, but the Lady Panthers got more points from more players and held on for a 44-35 win over Tyler Lee.

WHITEHOUSE -- Ryan Walls hit four 3-pointers in the third quarter, and that turned out to pretty much be the difference in the Wildcats' 63-53 win against fellow Class 5A opponent Forney.

ARP -- Jordan Tauscher continued her impressive early season debut for Tyler Grace Community with a team-best 25 points in a 66-42 win at Arp.

CROCKETT -- Two costly Tyler Grace Community fumbles helped Houston Northland Christian squeak by for a 27-24 victory Saturday in the TAPPS Division II state quarterfinals at Monte Jack Driskell Stadium. Grace closed its season with a second-place finish in District II, a bi-district round playoff win and a 10-2 overall record.

WINONA -- Nichole Garrett paced Winona with 24 points and seven rebounds in a 55-36 win against Rusk. Garrett wasn't the only player with big numbers for the Lady Wildcats (3-0) though. Lexi Lacy put up 15 points and Mallori Shacklett rounded out the top three for Winona with nine points...
