The Tyler Bishop Gorman Crusaders are 3-0 under third-year coach Coby Gipson, and junior quarterback Michael Goodwin is a big reason for the early-season success.

Goodwin's solid start to the year continued with a monster performance last Friday night in the Crusaders' 38-21 victory over Troup.

The Gorman signal-caller is the ETSN.fm/Dairy Queen Offensive Player of the Week after a performance that featured 612 yards of offense and six touchdowns. Goodwin (5-10, 185) completed 28 of 34 passes for 455 yards and four touchdowns, while rushing for another 157 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries.

For the season, Goodwin has now passed for 914 yards with nine touchdowns and three interceptions. He also leads the team in rushing with 308 yards and four scores on 41 carries.

The strong showing by Goodwin and the Crusaders have them entering their bye week winners of three consecutive games to open the season. Gorman has beaten Eustace, Quitman and Troup by a combined score of 116-55.

Gorman begins TAPPS Division II District 2 play Sept. 26 at Dallas Shelton.
