Wednesday was a big one in Arp athlete DeMarvion Overshown's recruiting saga.

UCLA and subsequently Oklahoma and Baylor entered the picture to become the ninth, 10th and 11th schools from the FBS level of NCAA Division I football interested in the prospect. Overshown, who reported all three scholarship opportunities directly to ETSN.fm, is now tied for second with Marshall guard Chasen Hines in sheer FBS offers among East Texas juniors.

Overshown (6-4, 196) is best known as a hard hitting safety at Arp, but he also played some receiver on a squad that reached the Class 3A Division II state semifinals last season. He might play additional roles for his squad this year since the team is forced to turn away from SMU-bound athlete Kayce Medlock and a seasoned quarterback.

As Arp excelled to the final four level of competition within its classification, Overshown worked his way to 173 tackles, four total takeaways and 121 receiving yards on just four touches.

UCLA's invitation from out of the Pac-12 marked Overshown's breakthrough into a third high-major conference. He already had interest from four Big 12 Conference schools as well as an offer from Arkansas of the SEC.

This could be a banner year for UCLA both in terms of the offers it extends to the East Texas region and its rate of return. Any regional verbal commitment would be an improvement, and uncommitted Carthage running back Keaontay Ingram also is in play for the university.

Jim Mora will begin his sixth season with the Bruins this fall. You may be most familiar with the head coach from his time guiding the Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks franchises at the NFL level.

Mora's staff targeted Bullard tight end Major Tennison and Nacogdoches all-around defensive back Josh Thompson in the past recruiting cycle. Those players committed to Alabama and Texas, respectively.

UCLA tried for Nacogdoches defensive back Jaylon Lane in 2014. Lane committed to Oklahoma State, spent two seasons at the junior college level after an off-the-field incident and ultimately signed with Texas Tech in spite of Mora and company re-offering him.

The Bruins' 2016 campaign ended with a 4-8 record.

UCLA has some selling points in lieu of a lackluster season. Most notably, it is situated in the upscale Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles and plays all of its home games at the historic Rose Bowl in nearby Pasadena, Calif.

Oklahoma and Baylor were the fifth and sixth Big 12 schools to target Overshown. His intraleague portfolio also features Kansas, Oklahoma State, TCU and Texas.

The Sooners won the conference championship last season -- their league-best 10th title in 20 years of competition. A Sugar Bowl win against Auburn secured Oklahoma an 11-2 record, fifth place in the final AP Poll and third place in the final USA TODAY Coaches' Poll.

Baylor is transitioning to new head coach Matt Rhule off an interim season under Jim Grobe. Last season's team closed the campaign with a win in the Cactus Bowl for a final record of 7-6 final.

Rhule, meanwhile, led his former Temple program to an American Athletic Conference championship game win after a 9-3 regular season. Temple went on to fall to Wake Forest in the Military Bowl several days after Rhule signed on with the Bears program.

Overshown, like all college football prospects currently in their junior year of high school, will become eligible to sign with any school that offers him in February of 2018.
