WHITE OAK -- Darian Brooks connected with Shaq Johnson on a screen pass, and Johnson went 49 yards for a touchdown to give Tatum a dramatic 28-21 win over White Oak on Friday night.

Johnson's score, his third of the game, put the Eagles (5-1, 1-0 in District 9-2A Division I) up 28-21 with 41 seconds left in the game. It came just 26 seconds after White Oak took a 21-20 lead on an 84-yard touchdown pass from Dylan Gale to Jansen McCurdy -- the third time the duo hooked up for touchdowns in the game.

White Oak (4-2, 0-1) immediately used a pass from Gale to McCurdy to get the ball to the Tatum 42, but four straight incomplete passes gave Tatum the ball and the win.

Tatum scored first in both the second and third quarters, only to see White Oak immediately respond, thanks to Gale and McCurdy.

Tatum took a 7-0 lead on a 44-yard touchdown run by Johnson early in the second quarter, only to see the lead immediately disappear.

White Oak responded with a 53-yard touchdown pass from Gale to McCurdy to tie the  game. The duo connected again on a 30-yard touchdown to tie the game at 14, responding to a 12-yard touchdown run by Johnson.

Tatum took a 20-14 lead on a 21-yard touchdown run by Brooks on fourth-and-1 with 8:36 left in the game, seven minutes before Gale hit McCurdy for their 84-yard touchdown with 1:07 left in the game.

Johnson finished with 210 yards and three touchdowns rushing on 23 carries, and Brooks rushed for 138 yards and a score on 18 carries. Brooks also completed 6 of 13 passes for 93 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Tatum forced six White Oak fumbles, keeping four, and an interception.
