There will be a whole lot of "new" for the Whitehouse Wildcats in 2018. For starters, Marcus Gold takes over for Adam Cook after Cook served as head coach for five seasons.

And the Wildcats' new home, District 9-5A Division II, features some new opponents: Hallsville, Marshall, Mount Pleasant, and Pine Tree.

Some things, however, will remain the same. Expectations are still high in Whitehouse, which is ranked No. 7 in ETSN.fm's Preseason Class 6A/5A Poll.

Whitehouse's offense should be in good shape with return of seven starters, including receiver and Texas Tech commit Cameron Cantrell. He'll be joined in the receiving corps by Kendrion Johnson. Flint Herrington is back at quarterback.

Graduation wasn't kind to Whitehouse's defense, but expect big seasons from the secondary, which will be led by Chaez Spurlock, Kendahl Fry, and Jermaine Bowser.

Whitehouse's non-district schedule consists solely of 4A opponents -- Henderson, Chapel Hill, and Melissa.

Marshall enters the year as 9-5A Division II favorites, but Whitehouse will also be pushed by the likes of Jacksonville, Pine Tree, and Hallsville.
