The Mineola Yellowjackets football program soared to new heights in 2014, advancing to the school's first-ever state championship game. And with a bevy of returning impact performers, the 'Jackets begin the year No. 1 in ETSN.fm's preseason Class 3A poll.

It was an improbable journey to the 3A Division II title game a season ago, considering Mineola began the year at 0-3 with losses to Elysian Fields, Winnsboro, and Lone Oak.

But the 'Jackets quickly turned the tide, reeling off 12 consecutive victories before falling to Cameron Yoe in the finals at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

Mineola's top two offensive weapons were only sophomores, and are each expected to have even bigger seasons this fall.

Quarterback Jeremiah Crawford passed for more than 1,200 yards with 10 touchdowns, but did most of his damage on the ground with almost 1,900 rushing yards and 26 additional touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Chantz Perkins put together a season for the ages for Mineola. He finished his sophomore campaign with 2,216 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns.

With Crawford and Perkins, Mineola figures to have one of the best QB-RB combos in all of East Texas.

And they'll have two of the state's top offensive linemen blocking for them in senior twins Austin and Riley Anderson, who have both offered up their commitments to Texas A&M. The Andersons may also be featured some on the defensive line in 2015.
