QUITMAN -- The Lady Bulldogs spoiled Alba-Golden's quest for perfection within District 14-3A with a five-set win Friday.

The match score was 27-25, 16-25, 25-21, 15-25, 15-8.

Sophomore Cammie Hicks had a career night with 46 assists in addition to eight digs and one point scored on an ace.

Kaci Raley led the Quitman offense with 24 kills. Molly Tanner also broke double-digit scoring, 11 kills and two aced serves.

CeTara Carter guided Alba-Golden with 17 total points, 15 kills and two aces. Gracie Pendergrass aced an additional two serves as part of 15 total points.

But the Lady Panthers' offense was strong as a whole. Caitlin Lennon recorded 24 assists and Briana Weissert added 21 assists of her own.

Alba-Golden still will win the District 14-3A championship with a current 10-1 record.

Quitman moved to 8-3 in the league and will visit Grand Saline on Tuesday.

 

Emory Rains Stays In Contention For District Title

VAN -- Emory Rains swept Van, 25-8, 25-9, 25-18, to give itself a chance to win the District 14-4A championship this upcoming week.

Charlotte Bradshaw scored 19 total points in the match, 15 kills and four blocks, to pace the Lady Cats. Corley Cole recorded a team-best six blocks in addition to six kills and two aces.

Cole also had 14 assists in the match, second to Shelbi Sheppard's 17 assists.

The win marked the end of Rains' regular season. It has a league-best 7-1 record.

However, Canton is 6-1 within the district and hosts Van on Tuesday.

If Canton wins, Rains will face Canton on a neutral floor this upcoming weekend to determine the district championship.

 

Beckville Sweeps Leverett's Chapel

LEVERETT'S CHAPEL -- Beckville picked up a 25-9, 25-9, 25-15 win against Leverette's Chapel to remain unbeaten in District 20-2A.

The Ladycats scored 50 of the 75 points they needed for the victory offensively.

Kassidy Alexander scored four of the team's 14 aces while Kinley Blair earned a team-best nine kills and three blocks for 12 total points.

Beckville will conduct senior night Tuesday against Carlisle.

 

Carlisle Tops Overton In Straight Sets

PRICE -- Carlisle earned a 25-10, 25-11, 25-19 victory against Overton elsewhere in District 20-2A competition.

The Lady Indians now have a 9-2 district record.

Ceci Deleon played a hand in 24 points with 20 assists and four aces.

Madison Martin led the team in scoring. She recorded four aces, three kills and a block.

Carlisle will visit Beckville on Tuesday.

Carthage Runs Through Tatum

TATUM -- Carthage elevated its District 19-4A record to 8-0 thanks to quick work against Tatum.

The Lady Dawgs won, 25-18, 25-17, 25-16.

Kenzi Templeton recorded 23 assists while Alli Capps led the team in scoring with 13 kills.

Carthage will face Rusk on Tuesday.

Whitehouse Makes Headway Toward Playoffs

JACKSONVILLE -- Whitehouse swept Jacksonville, 25-9, 25-9, 25-14, and held steady in District 16-5A's third-place spot.

Molly Harris had arguably the best match with 29 assists offensively and 15 digs defensively. Beth Hood recorded 15 kills and aced four serves.

The Ladycats will finish off district play Tuesday at Lufkin.
