Friday Volleyball: Tatum Opens District With Sweep
ELYSIAN FIELDS -- Tatum only needed three sets to dispose of Elysian Fields on Friday.
Essence Allen led the Lady Eagles with 14 kills, 10 digs and four blocks in the victory. Ashton Brown finished with 13 kills.
Tatum improved to 16-6 with the win and 1-0 in District 15-3A. It will next face New Diana at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Quitman takes down Lone Grove
LONE OAK -- Quitman earned a sweep of Lone Grove on Tuesday.
The Lady Bulldogs won by scores of 25-15, 25-16 and 25-18. Madalyn Spears led with 11 kills and four aces, while freshman Ava Burroughs had 10 kills and three blocks.
Quitman improved to 15-10 and 1-0 in District 12-3A and will next face Grand Saline at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Carlisle falls to Timpson in four
CARLISLE -- The Lady Indians couldn't come away with a victory, falling to Timpson in four sets Friday.
The Lady Bears won the first set 25-15, lost the second 25-21 and won the final two 25-19 and 25-20. Heather Craig led Carlisle with 27 kills and 21 digs in the loss. Tori Esters had 35 assists, while Jennifer Elias added 18 digs.
Carlisle will next face Shelbyville on Tuesday.
Beckville takes district opener
BECKVILLE -- The Lady Cats disposed of Shelbyville in three sets on Friday.
Beckville won by scores of 25-7, 25-5 and 25-6. Jordan Tondreau, Payton Jones and Allison Baker each had 10 kills.
Beckville is now 24-7 and 1-0 in District 20-2A and next faces Gary on Tuesday.
