Gladewater Fights Way to 35-21 Win Over Hughes Springs

HALLSVILLE – The Gladewater Bears earned a hard-fought, 35-21 win over Hughes Springs in their Class 3A Division I bi-district playoff Friday night.

Gladewater (10-1) will face Eustace (4-7) at 2 p.m. next Friday in Van in the area round.

Rashaud Johnson’s 6-yard touchdown with 7:11 remaining in the fourth quarter capped a 90-yard drive that put the game out of reach.

Eli Carter led the Bears with 160 yards and a touchdown, eclipsing the 2,000-yard mark for the season.

Hughes Springs (5-6) got touchdowns from Chandler King, Bryce Johnston, and Andrew Gaul.
