ELYSIAN FIELDS -- New Diana moved closer to a District 9-2A Division II playoff berth Friday night with a 45-33 win at Elysian Fields.

New Diana quarterback Jobie Ainsworth delivered a huge performance. He completed 15 of 21 passes for 329 yards and five touchdowns, while rushing 12 times for 73 yards and two scores.

New Diana (6-3, 3-3) clinches its first playoff berth since 2009 with a win at DeKalb (1-8, 1-5) on Friday. Elysian Fields (3-6, 3-3), which has lost three consecutive games after a 3-0 district start, still has a shot at the playoffs, but the Jackets must beat Paul Pewitt (6-3, 4-2) by 13 or more points and have DeKalb beat New Diana.

Elysian Fields contained New Diana leading rusher Garrett Barton on the ground, but he hurt the Jackets through the air. Barton caught seven passes for 153 yards and two scores. Barton also had a huge game defensively, finishing with seven tackles, three forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.

DeQuailyn Hollins had four catches for 93 yards and a touchdown, while Brandon Wesley, who had 10 tackles and two fumble recoveries at his linebacker spot, caught two passes for 41 yards and a touchdown.

New Diana's Tyler Morgan added a 36-yard touchdown reception. Cody Holland had 10 tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble. Cody Winn added eight tackles and a sack, while Coy Holland contributed six tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. Skylar Simpson had seven tackles and a sack.

New Diana forced four turnovers to aid the 23-point victory.
