Tatum Remains Unbeaten In District Play, Defeating Mineola, 52-21
TATUM —The Tatum Eagles cruised to a 52-21 rout of Mineola on Friday night to remain unbeaten in District 8-3A Division I.
Tatum (6-2, 5-0) opened the scoring halfway through the first quarter when Jachias Jenkins ran for a 49-yard touchdown.
The Eagles continued to pour on the points in the first half, talking a 35-0 lead into the break.
In the third quarter, Shaw Franklin put Mineola (5-3, 2-3) on the board with a five-yard touchdown run, but Tatum answered quickly with a 59-yard scoring strike from OB Jones to Jenkins.
The Eagles' final points in the game came on a 28-yard field goal from Ismael Vazquez.
Jones rushed for two touchdowns and had two touchdowns through the air in the Tatum win.
Tatum returns to action next Friday on the road at Gladewater (8-1, 4-1), while Mineola is at home against Winnsboro (2-7, 0-5).
