The first Division I scholarship offers have arrived for Tatum 2017 TE/DE Shay Rodgers.

The Eagles' senior standout tweeted news of offers from both Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern, Sunday afternoon.

Rodgers (6-4, 240) told ETSN.fm that Prairie View is recruiting him at tight end, while Texas Southern is interested in him at defensive end.

Both Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern are Houston-area members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference at the FCS level.

Prairie View is coached by Willie Simmons and finished the 2016 season with an overall record of 7-4, and 7-2 in SWAC play. The Panthers were not, however, selected for the FCS playoffs.

Michael Haywood is the head coach at Texas Southern, which was 4-7 and 4-5 in conference play this season.

Rodgers and his Tatum teammates rebounded from an 0-10 finish in 2015 to reach the playoffs this past year. The Eagles were 7-4, falling to Gladewater in the bi-district round of the postseason.

Like all senior high school football prospects, Rodgers will become eligible to sign with any school that offers him in February.
