Tuesday Volleyball: Carlisle Takes Out San Augustine in Four Sets
CARLISLE -- The Carlisle Lady Indians lost in the first set, but won the next three to secure a victory against San Augustine on Tuesday evening.
After the Lady Wolves won 25-22 in the first set, Carlisle took the next three by scores of 25-7, 26-24 and 25-10, respectively. Heather Craig led Carlisle with 25 kills and 15 aces, while Jailin Lee had 36 assists and Camdyn Gray added eight kills, nine digs and three aces.
Carlisle now turns its attention to Garrison, which it will play Friday on the road.
Beckville sweeps Garrison
GARRISON -- Beckville dominated Garrison on Friday, earning a sweep of the Lady Bulldogs.
The Ladycats won by scores of 25-3, 25-7 and 25-3. Jordan Tondreau and Miranda Mize had four kills apiece, while Mize finished with eight aces. Payton Jones had five aces and Kinley Pepper led the team with 13 assists.
Beckville improved to 28-7 and 5-0 in District 20-2A with the victory. The Ladycats will next face Timpson at 4:30 p.m. Friday in Timpson.
Tatum sweeps Jefferson
JEFFERSON -- Tatum made easy work of Jefferson on Friday, taking out the Lady Bulldogs in a sweep.
The Lady Eagles won by scores of 25-16, 25-10 and 25-5. Essence Allen posted a line of 10 kills, 10 digs and seven assists. Ashton Brown finished with nine kills, 10 assists and three aces.
Tatum improved to 21-6 and 6-0 in District 15-3A. The Lady Eagles will next face Elysian Fields at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Tatum.
Quitman takes out Mineola
MINEOLA -- Quitman needed only four sets to defeat Mineola on Tuesday evening.
The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Yellowjackets in the first sets, 25-13, but Mineola tied it up with a 27-25 victory in the second. Quitman bounced back with 25-19 and 25-22 victories to close the match.
Madalyn Spears led with 18 kills and 25 digs, while Shelby Hayes led in both assists (33) and aces (four). Hayes also combined with Jentri Jackson for 12 kills.
Quitman improved to 19-11 and 5-1 in District 12-3A with the victory. The Lady Bulldogs will next face Lone Oak at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Quitman.
Diboll defeats Hemphill in sweep
DIBOLL -- Diboll needed only three sets to take out Hemphil on Tuesday.
The Lady Jacks won by scores of 25-11, 25-9 and 25-8. Helen Bolton finished with 12 kills, Ari Compean had nine kills and Nic Mitchell led with 21 assists.
Diboll improved to 22-9 and 2-1 in District 21-3A. It will next face Corrigan-Camden at 4:30 p.m. Friday in Diboll.
