Tuesday’s Volleyball Playoff Roundup: Gilmer Rolls Past Tatum + More

LONGVIEW -- The Gilmer Lady Buckeyes cruised to a 25-6, 25-20, 25-13 sweep of Tatum in their Class 4A Region II bi-district volleyball playoff Tuesday night.

Belynda Ray led the way for Gilmer with 14 kills. Destiny Brooks added 10 kills and 12 digs, Allie Fennell had six kills and 22 assists, while Sommer Hines and Maddie Vestal combined for 15 digs.

Gilmer will meet Pleasant Grove in the area round later this week.

Carthage Too Much For Chapel Hill

NEW CHAPEL HILL -- The Carthage Lady Dawgs earned a 25-17, 25-13, 25-11 sweep of Chapel Hill in a Class 4A Region II bi-district playoff Tuesday.

Faith Landreneaux led Carthage (33-6) with 13 kills, two blocks, and three digs. Alli Capps added eight kills and five digs, Cindrasha Boykin had seven kills, Carson Robertson racked up 28 assists, while Kaitlyn Nutt chipped in with 15 digs.

Carthage faces Mabank later this week in the area round of the playoffs.

Beckville Outlasts Sabine

TATUM -- The Beckville Ladycats began the postseason with a 25-23, 25-7, 17-25, 25-12 win over Sabine on Tuesday night in their Class 3A Region II bi-district playoff.

Payton Jones led Beckville (33-5) with nine kills, one block, and 15 digs. Kinley Blair added nine kills, two blocks, 13 digs, and an ace, Hannah Humphries had seven kills and a pair of digs, Riley Seegers finished with six kills, three blocks, 10 digs, and an ace, Jordan Tondreau had five kills, an assist, and 10 digs, while Kinley Pepper registered 34 assists, a kill, one ace, and 10 digs.

Beckville will face Hooks later this week in the area round.

Alba-Golden Cruises

FORNEY -- The Alba-Golden Lady Panthers rolled to a 25-6, 25-20, 25-23 win over Dallas Life Oak Cliff in their Class 3A Region II bi-district playoff Tuesday.

Grace Pendergrass led Alba-Golden (22-13) with 10 kills and 10 digs. Bethany Carson added eight kills and two blocks, Brianna Weissert had 23 assists, Lindsey Roberts finished with two aces and four digs, while Ginny Carson chipped in with five digs.

Alba-Golden meets Commerce in the area round of the playoffs.

Quitman Eases to Win

FORNEY -- The Quitman Lady Bulldogs cruised to a 25-13, 25-20, 25-13 sweep of Uplift Summit International Prep in a Class 3A Region II bi-district playoff Tuesday.

Kaci Raley paced Quitman (30-9) with 13 kills, an assist, one ace, and nine digs. Molly Tanner added six kills, five aces, and seven digs, Madalyn Spears had three kills, three aces, and 10 digs, while Cammie Hicks finished with 24 assists, a kill, five aces, and four digs.

Quitman next faces Callisburg later this week in the area round.

Gary Begins Playoffs With Sweep

LONGVIEW -- Gary rolled to 25-22, 25-23, 25-21 sweep of Hawkins in their Class 2A Region III bi-district playoff Tuesday night.

Leann Youngblood led Gary with 15 kills, four aces, and six digs. Kristina Bell added eight kills, five aces, and 20 digs, Cara Coligan had five kills, two blocks, and five digs, Made Davis finished with four kills, four blocks, four aces, and five digs, while Taylor Rodgers racked up 27 assists and added three blocks, an ace, and four digs.

Gary will face Detroit in the area round of the playoffs.
