With the regular season nearing its conclusion, several teams are fighting for playoff berths, and need wins every single week. Including Elkhart.

The Elks delivered last Friday, remaining in the District 9-3A Division I postseason race with a thrilling 52-45 win over Whitney. And they have senior running back D.J. Williams to thank.

Williams put on a show, carrying the ball 45 times for 476 yards and six touchdowns. For his efforts, Williams is the ETSN.fm + Dairy Queen Offensive Player of the Week. He follows last week's winner, Tenaha's C.J. Horn.

With the win, Elkhart (5-3, 3-2) is tied with West for third place in district and would qualify for the playoffs if the season ended today.

For the season, Williams has rushed for 1,537 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Williams and his Elkhart teammates continue the push for the postseason this Friday night at Groesbeck (3-5, 2-3).
