Contact Us Week 8 Podcast: Talking UIL Realignment + This Week’s Biggest Games [AUDIO]

Kilgore’s Xaviar Gaona passes during the Bulldogs’ 49-7 home win over Bullard on Oct. 4. (

In this week’s edition of the podcast, our Gabe Brooks and Clint Buckley discuss a wide range of topics, including UIL realignment.

Friday is “Snapshot Day” across the state of Texas. Every two years, schools turn in enrollment figures to the UIL, which uses those numbers for its biennial realignment and reclassification every other February. Brooks and Buckley talk about a couple of new wrinkles that will add to the intrigue this go-round.

With the high school volleyball season winding down, teams all across East Texas are fighting for postseason berths, playoff positioning and district championships. The 16-3A title is up for grabs Friday when No. 3 Spring Hill hosts No. 28 Gilmer in a rematch of their epic, five-game match won by Spring Hill at Gilmer on Oct. 1.

The show concludes with a look at this week’s biggest football games, including the Queen Game of the Week featuring Chapel Hill and No. 3 Kilgore in a “District of Doom” clash. Gabe and Clint also talk Longview-North Mesquite, Whitehouse-Nacogdoches, Carthage-Jasper and San Augustine-West Sabine.
