Saturday Basketball: Sixth-Ranked Bullard Girls Finish Third at Miller Grove Tournament + More

MILLER GROVE — The sixth-ranked Bullard Lady Panthers went 1-1 on Saturday to finish third at the Miller Grove Tournament.

Bullard (7-1) suffered its first loss of the season to Winnsboro, 39-34, before scoring a 55-33 win over Yantis in the third-place game.

Lexi Abercrombie paced Bullard in the loss to Winnsboro with 12 points, while Maddy Slayter and Bridgette Taylor added nine points apiece. Abercrombie had 17 points in the defeat of Yantis. Lexi Kirgan added 15 points, while Taylor finished with 13.

Bullard continues its season Friday at home against Mabank.

Lindale Takes Down Mabank

LINDALE — The Lindale Eagles earned its second consecutive win to open the season with a 51-42 win over Mabank on Saturday.

Mason Terry led Lindale (2-0) with 13 points and six assists. Jacob Capo added 12 points and seven rebounds, Jordan Gray had 10 points, four baords and seven assists, Tavon Griffin scored eight points and Andrez Alvarez chipped in with two points and four assists.

Lindale returns to action Tuesday at Marshall.

Gary Edges Zavalla in Wells Tournament

WELLS — Gary improved to 3-0 on the season with a 36-34 victory over Zavalla at the Wells Tournament on Saturday.

Josh Bowen led the way with 13 points, while Cody Bridges had 10. Colton Coleman added eight points in the win.

Gary hosts Carlisle, while Zavalla entertains Wells on Tuesday.
