Corey Homer knows what it's like to make the playoffs wearing the Mount Pleasant black and gold. He did it as a player twice under Marc McDaniel during one of the Tigers' most successful periods in school history.

TEXARKANA -- Texas High scored 27 unanswered points and cruised past Mount Pleasant by a final score of 27-7 Friday inside Tiger Stadium at Grimm Park. Mount Pleasant got on the board first, and owned a 7-3 lead after the first quarter, thanks to a 10-yard run by Je'kerris Lee less than halfway through the period. But it was all Texas High after that.

MARSHALL -- Cameron Haller ran for 212 yards and three touchdowns to surpass the 1,000-yard mark this season in Marshall's 48-21 win over Mount Pleasant on Friday night in District 16-5A action.

HALLSVILLE -- Clint Lapic's 9-yard touchdown run in overtime sent the Hallsville Bobcats to their first win of the season, a 24-20 defeat of Mount Pleasant on Friday night. With Longview out of the picture and in Class 6A now, it appears as if District 16-5A will be a two-horse between Marshall and Texas High, which each grabbed a piece of the league title in 2015. Marshall returns 12 starters from last year's 11-2 regional semifinalist squad, while Texas High brings back one of the top quarterback in the region in senior Cade Pearson, who is committed to North Texas

TATUM -- Lufkin found its groove in time to dispose of a Mount Pleasant team that might be making bigger headlines next season Tuesday in the two teams' Class 5A bi-district playoff game at Tatum High School.
