TENAHA -- Tenaha came out with a lot of energy tonight in front of their home crowd, jumped on Laneville early, and survived a second-quarter run before ultimately pulling away for a 72-54 victory in Saturday's third-place game at the Tenaha Holiday Hoops Scholarship Showcase.
Tenaha, ranked seventh in the latest Texas Association of Basketball Coaches' Class A Division I poll, bounced back from a 55-51 loss to White Oak in Friday's semifinals.
Laneville, No. 4 in the TABC's Class A Division II rankings, started the event with double-digit victories against Broaddus and San Augustine on Thursday before falling to state-ranked foes Friday (82-71 to 2A No. 2 Kountze) and Saturday (Tenaha).

Tenaha, which got 19 points from Jacoby Ivy, led 18-5 after the first quarter, but Laneville went on a 14-0 run in the second quarter to tie the game.
That's as close as the Yellow Jackets got. Tenaha ended the quarter on a 9-0 run, then outscored Laneville 19-10 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
Dontavious Harris scored 13 points for Laneville resumes, which district play Friday against Apple Springs, then has a big game at No. 7 Douglass on January 7. Tenaha travels Wednesday to Miller Grove, which is ranked 22nd in 1A D-II.
