Carlisle comes into 2018 looking like one of the better area teams in 2A.

The Indians lose coach Rocky Baker to retirement, but his son, Clay, will take the reigns. He inherits a teams coming off of a regional quarterfinal appearance this past season. Luckily, he also returns some of the best players from that team and won’t have to worry about establishing relationships in his first season.

Gerald Turner, who came away with seven interceptions in the playoffs alone last season, is back at defensive back. He’ll also get a chance to run the offense at quarterback after playing receiver in 2017. He’ll have a weapon in Jay Price, who led the team in receiver a season ago, and another in Trey Rutherford.

Defensively, in addition to Turner, the Indians will have Rutherford at defensive back as well as linebacker Walker Adams, who was the heart of the defense in 2017. Lineman Madison Taliaferro also returns on both sides and brings plenty of experience into the new season.

Simply put, Carlisle will be one of the better teams in 2A this season. The Indians have the tools to not only win their district, but also make another deep playoff run.
