Total of 13 East Texas Girls Basketball Teams Ranked in TABC’s Preseason Polls
The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches released their preseason girls polls Monday and 13 East Texas teams cracked the rankings.
Defending state champion Martin's Mill is the highest ranked team in the area regardless of classification, checking in at No. 2 in the 1A Division I poll. The Lady Mustangs are followed by No. 9 Slocum, No. 14 Zavalla, No. 19 Martinsville and No. 20 Neches.
Saltillo, last season's state runner-up, is ranked No. 13 in the 1A D-II poll, followed closely by No. 14 Chireno.
There are four 2A teams from East Texas ranked, led by No. 7 Alba-Golden. The Lady Panthers are followed by No. 12 New Boston, No. 16 Tatum and No. 22 Nacogdoches Central Heights.
Lindale begins the year as the 24th-ranked team in 4A, while Bullard is ranked No. 6 in the preseason 3A poll.
