The Center Roughnecks, with their playoff hopes on the line, found themselves staring down a 28-point deficit to Kilgore last Friday night.

Needing a win to keep postseason chances alive, the 'Riders turned to sophomore quarterback Jayden Hicks. His performance rallied Center to an improbable win, and has them on the doorstep of the playoffs.

Hicks passed for 324 yards and five touchdowns, and added two more rushing scores in leading the Roughriders to a stunning 49-35 comeback win over Kilgore.

For his efforts, Hicks is the ETSN.fm/Dairy Queen Offensive Player of the Week. He follows last week's winner, Palestine quarterback Tyler Gray.

Hicks competed 11 of 16 attempts on the night, connecting with senior receiver and Stephen F. Austin commit JaTerious Evans four times in the end zone. Evans finished with eight receptions for 276 yards.

For the season, Hicks has passed for 1,983 yards with 20 touchdowns and six interceptions, and run for 585 yards and six TD's.

Center (3-7, 3-3 in District 9-4A Division I) is off this week and is awaiting the results from the district's other teams this Friday to learn their playoff fate.
