Georgetown Takes Down John Tyler to Claim Girls Title At Great East Texas Shootout

BROWNSBORO — The Georgetown Lady Eagles defeated John Tyler 50-36 on Saturday to capture the girls championship of the Great East Texas Shootout.

Charisma Alexander led Georgetown with 14 points.

John Tyler (11-6) was sparked in defeat by Ashtyn Beal's 13 points. Amia Wickware added 12 in the losing effort.

Georgetown reached the final earlier in the day with a 43-41 win over Lewisville Hebron, which captured third place with a 66-49 defeat of Texas High. John Tyler advanced to the final after its 41-36 win over Texas High earlier Saturday.

Martin's Mill edged out Alba-Golden 41-40 to claim the fifth-place game, while Whitehouse earned a 36-33 win over Chapel Hill for the consolation championship.
