Not Much Change in Latest Associated Press Top 10 Rankings
There wasn't much change in the latest Associated Press top 10 football polls, released on Monday.
John Tyler (8-1) is still No. 2 in Class 4A following a 50-7 victory over Nacogdoches, the Lions' seventh consecutive victory. JT faces unbeaten Whitehouse (9-0), which is receiving votes, on Friday night in the regular-season finale.
In 3A, Kilgore (8-0) stayed at No. 4 after its hard-fought 14-10 win over Henderson kept the Bulldogs unbeaten on the season. Kilgore travels to Gilmer, which is just outside the top 10, Friday in battle that will decide the District 16-3A championship.
Carthage (8-2), which wrapped up its regular season with a 55-14 win over Diboll last week, actually dropped one spot from ninth to No. 10.
There was no change at all in the 2A poll. Newton (9-0) is still third, New Boston (9-0) fifth and Hughes Springs (9-0) remained at No. 9.
Joaquin (9-0), which blew out Timpson 48-14 last Friday, stayed No. 5 in the Class A poll. Alto (7-2), meanwhile, dropped out following a wild 49-42 loss to San Augustine.
