A total of seven East Texas teams in four different classifications concluded the regular season ranked in the final Associated Press top 10 polls, which were released Monday.

John Tyler (8-2) is the lone regional representative in the Class 5A rankings, checking in at No. 8 after the Lions' dominating 44-14 win over Nacogdoches on Friday night. Longview (8-2) and Lufkin (6-4) each received votes.

Three area schools finished in the 4A top 10, led by Gilmer (10-0), which stayed at No. 3 following its 63-27 rout of Emory Rains over the weekend. Van (10-0), a 31-0 winner of Kaufman, remained at No. 7, and Gladewater (9-1) held steady at No. 8 after the Bears' 56-22 defeat of Center. Jasper (7-3) received one vote.

A pair of East Texas schools finished in the 3A top 10. Waskom (9-1) moved up a spot to No. 4 after its 63-0 drubbing of New Diana, while Malakoff (9-1) remained at No. 8 following the Tigers' 45-0 shutout of Eustace.

Four local teams received votes in the 3A poll -- Newton (7-3), Arp (8-1), Corrigan-Camden (9-1) and New Boston (9-1).

Alto (9-0) is the only East Texas school in the 2A rankings. The Yellowjackets finished the year at No. 7 after their 68-6 defeat of Cross Roads. Union Grove (9-0), Tenaha (8-1) and West Sabine (8-2) all received votes.
