ETSN.fm Class 2A Preseason Poll: No. 1 Tenaha Tigers
Tenaha came close to realizing a high school football dream this past season.
The Tigers were one win away from being 2A Division II state champions, but fell to Muesnter, 27-20 in Arlington.
The Tigers lose several pieces from that championship team, including ATH Trai Gardner, running back Ontario Thompson, linebacker Tavoris Giles, quarterback C.J. Horn and coach Craig Horn. Still, ETSN.fm predicts the Tigers to be the top team in 2A in 2018.
Greg Jenkins takes over as coach and his son, Hayden Jenkins, will replace C.J. Horn at quarterback. Receiver Jay Lloyd has been with the team for a while and will get the opportunity to take over this season. The Tigers also have a couple of experienced linemen in Nictavian Calloway and Juarmez Brock.
Tenaha is in a tough district in 11-2A Division I. It will face Timpson, Garrison and Linden-Kildare, all ranked in the ETSN.fm 2A preseason poll. But the Tigers have a track record of success that makes it difficult to bet against them, especially coming off a runner up finish a season ago.
