ATHENS -- Anthony Sanders went off for Athens, which almost got a triple-double for Ryan Jefferson as the dynamic duo led the Hornets to an 88-65 home win against Brownsboro on Friday evening.

Sanders scored a game-high 37 points to lead Class 3A's 17th-ranked Hornets, who improved to 20-1 overall and 3-0 in District 15-3A.

Jefferson finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists. Courtland Lyons scored 15 points, while Josh Garrett added seven points.

Marshall Remains Unbeaten in 14-4A

MARSHALL -- Five Mavericks scored in double figures to fuel Marshall's 99-67 District 14-4A home victory vs. Pine Tree on Friday night.

Shimar Jones and Curtis Kador led Marshall (24-3, 3-0) with 15 points apiece, while Jay McKnight and Chris Brown each scored 13 points. Tiandre Jackson-Young added 10 points.

Pine Tree's Caleb Chumley scored a game-high 23 points. Joel Best scored 13 points for the Pirates, who fell to 0-3 in district. Dalvin Manns and Blake Adams had 12 points and 10 points, respectively. Brett Lucy chipped in seven.

Whitehouse Tops Lindale

LINDALE -- Spencer Shaw scored 14 points and Jake Parker added 12 to lead Whitehouse to a 52-47 District 16-4A win at Lindale on Friday evening.

Whitehouse (18-5, 2-1) helped itself at the free-throw line, where the Wildcats made 17 of 21 attempts.

Patrick Mahomes scored 10 points. Devonn Miles and Brady Hill scored six apiece. The loss dropped Lindale to 10-12 overall and 0-3 in 16-4A.

Whitehouse hosts Nacogdoches on Tuesday, when Lindale visits Corsicana.

No. 5 Tatum Rolls By Ore City

ORE CITY -- A huge first half propelled Tatum to a 102-38 blowout at Ore City on Friday night.

Donovan Centers' 20 points and Chaston Brooks' 17 points led seven Tatum players who scored at least seven points in the win, which pushed the Eagles to 21-4 overall and 7-0 in district competition.

Tatum led 34-10 after one quarter and 64-17 at halftime to cruise to the victory.

Tatum's Jahee Johnson scored 15 points, while JaKoby Lee added 13 points. Klifton Willis had 10 points. Kyshaun Smith (8) and Devonte Alexander combined for 15 points.

The loss dropped Ore City to 1-6 in district play.

Harmony Takes Down Winona

RHONESBORO -- Austin Spurlock's monster performance guided Harmony to its first district win in a 60-46 home victory against Winona.

Spurlock finished the night with 39 points, including five three-pointers, and four steals. The win improved Harmony to 3-14 overall and 1-6 in district. Winona fell to 0-7 in league play.

Harmony's Bentley Miner added nine points and 10 rebounds, while Levi Thompson snagged a game-high 13 boards. Caleb Hart scored six points.

Waskom Wins at Union Grove

UNION GROVE -- Kevin Johnson and Eric Stephens III combined for 46 points and Waskom used a devastating third-quarter spurt for a 70-50 district win at Union Grove on Friday.

Johnson and Stephens III each scored 23 points for the Wildcats, who improved to 8-5 overall and 6-1 in district play. More than half of Stephens III's points came from behind the three-point line, where he hit four shots.

Leading 38-31 at halftime, Waskom pitched a third-quarter shutout with a 26-0 advantage during the period to take total control of the game.

The loss dropped Union Grove to 14-6 overall and 4-2 in league competition.

No. 8 San Augustine Cruises Past Lufkin Pineywoods

SAN AUGUSTINE -- J.D. Brown's 24 points led 1A D-I No. 8 San Augustine in an 84-36 district home rout of Lufkin Pineywoods Academy on Friday night.

Brown hit 6 of 8 three-point attempts as the Wolves improved to 19-7 overall and 3-0 in district.

San Augustine's Jarvis Smith scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, while Jadarrian Taylor added 14 points. Jordan Garrett, Jeremy Jenkins, and JaMikel Roberts combined to scored 20 points.

No. 3 Laneville Crushes Groveton Centerville

GROVETON -- Laneville, the third-ranked team in Class A Division II, improved to 21-6 overall and 5-1 in district with a 99-20 win at Groveton Centerville on Friday night.

Laneville's Tra Alexander had a big night with 25 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and five steals, while Ty Johnson added 16 points.

Kendrick Anderson contributed 15 points and seven rebounds. Donta Harris chipped in with 11 points, including three treys, and five assists. Tiarel Franklin scored nine points, while Jakavion Polk hit a pair of triples. Ladarius Arnett had five points and five steals. Kaun Alexander added six points.

Gary Beats Joaquin

JOAQUIN -- Josh Bowen and Colton Coleman powered Gary to a 62-40 district victory at Joaquin on Friday night.

Bowen scored a game-high 29 points, while Coleman added 21. Gary improved to 14-5 overall and 2-0 in district.

Canton Tops Van

CANTON -- Kassidy Wilkerson's 19 points led Canton in a 46-37 District 15-3A home victory vs. Van on Friday night.

Wilkerson hit two three-pointers and ripped five steals as the Lady Eagles improved to 19-6 overall and 4-1 in 15-3A. Holly Raitz added 10 points, while teammate Taylor Tidwell scored eight points. Raitz and Tidwell each hit two three-pointers.

The loss dropped Van to 2-3 in district.

Bullard Edges Spring Hill

BULLARD -- Lexi Kirgan's 21 points led three Bullard Lady Panthers in double figures as they slipped by Spring Hill 57-56 at home Friday in a District 16-3A matchup.

Bullard's Bridgette Taylor scored 13 points, while Lexi Abercrombie netted 12. Maddy Slayter added nine points as the Lady Panthers improved to 20-6 overall and 5-2 in district play.

Pleasant Grove Wins at Paris

PARIS -- Renee Walker and Brette Wacha combined for 36 points to lead Pleasant Grove to a 52-44 District 13-3A victory at Paris on Friday evening.

Walker scored game-high 19 points, while Wacha added 17 points. Paris' Jazmyn Pipkins led her team with 16 points.

The win pushed Pleasant Grove (20-4) to alone in first place in the district at 5-0. The loss dropped Paris to 14-8 overall and 4-1 in 13-3A.
