There were no changes to the top five in this week's ETSN.fm East Texas Class 3A poll, but two new teams entered the rankings.

Despite suffering their first losses of the season over the weekend, John Tyler and Lufkin did not drop too far in this week's Associated Press Class 5A poll.

The top six teams in last week's ETSN.fm East Texas Class 3A poll all either won or did not play last Friday night, keeping the first six spots in this week's rankings unchanged.

The top spots in the latest Associated Press Class 5A poll belong to East Texas. John Tyler is the No. 1 team in 5A, followed by District 16-5A mate Lufkin at No. 2.

While the top three all stayed the same in this week's ETSN.fm East Texas Class 3A poll, Malakoff made a three-spot jump to No. 4 after a dominating 39-14 win over Daingerfield last Friday night.

There was a big shake-up in this week's Associated Press Class 5A poll.

The top four teams in the preseason ETSN.fm East Texas Class 3A poll all suffered opening-week losses, paving the way for Corrigan-Camden, who moved up five spots to this week's No. 1 ranking.

When the subject of high school football is brought up in deep East Texas, the conversation doesn't last too long without mentioning either Newton or Corrigan-Camden.

With the season nearly two weeks away, several East Texas teams will begin with targets on the their backs. Ten area programs are ranked in the top 10 in the preseason Associated Press high school football polls, which were released Wednesday.

The Bulldogs are in for a tough run for the crown of District 11-3A Division II alongside Garrison, Newton and Deweyville. That being said, Corrigan-Camden looks poised for a big year with 11 players back from a team that reached the Class 2A Division II regional championship game last season.
