TENAHA -- Laneville didn't have many problems Tuesday in the Tenaha Holiday Hoops tournament semifinal against a larger White Oak team. The Yellowjackets won the meeting, 59-27, and will play Kountze at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday for the pre-district tournament title. Kountze defeated Laneville in the championship round last season.

BULLARD -- Van had victory within its grasp late in Monday's battle with Bullard. Hannah Lloyd changed that. She hit a game-tying 3-pointer with six seconds in regulation to force overtime and the Lady Panthers (9-1) cruised in overtime for a 70-63 win after a 58-58 game at the end of regulation.

HAWKINS -- Beckville kept rolling Tuesday. The Lady Bearcats defeated Hawkins, 25-6, 25-11, 25-14, and improved their record to 21-4.

VAN -- The Tyler All Saints Lady Trojans went undefeated in pool play at the Van Tournament on Friday.

Three teams in the new District 9-2A Division I made the postseason a year ago. One team was right on the cusp. Two of the teams went winless. This district looks straight forward on paper, but that's why they play the game.
