The Whitehouse Wildcats jumped up two spots to No. 3 in the latest Associated Press Class 4A poll, which released Monday.

Whitehouse (4-0), which received a first-place vote, is coming off a 59-3 out of Marshall last Friday.

In Class 3A, Carthage (4-0) and Gilmer (4-0) remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Carthage escaped with a thrilling 44-40 win over Nacogdoches last week, while the Buckeyes continued to roll with their 54-27 victory over Daingerfield. Kilgore (3-0), which routed Mount Pleasant 48-20 last Friday, remained at No. 5.

Newton (3-0), which was off a week ago, remained at No. 2 in the 2A poll. New Boston (4-0), which won 41-7 over Paris North Lamar, and idle Tatum (3-0) stayed at Nos. 4 and 6, respectively. Hughes Springs, White Oak, Corrigan-Camden, Malakoff and Garrison all received at least one vote.

In 1A, Tenaha and West Sabine, which were supposed to be play one another before the game was canceled because of weather, both moved up one spot. Tenaha (2-1) is No. 5, while West Sabine (3-0) is ranked ninth.

Longview (3-1) received one vote in the 5A poll.
