Ten East Texas teams were ranked in Monday's Texas Association of Basketball Coaches polls, while District 17-2A has two teams in the Class 2A top five.

White Oak and Tatum square off in a huge 17-2A bout at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in White Oak. The Roughnecks (19-1), the defending 2A state champion, slipped from No. 1 to No. 2 in Monday's poll after a 78-62 loss to Kountze, the new No. 1, in the Dec. 29 Tenaha Holiday Hoops championship game. Tatum (18-6) moved up to the No. 5 to set the stage for a top-five showdown Tuesday.

Class A Division I and Class A Division II each had five East Texas teams in the top 25.

Cayuga (12-6) leads the 1A D-I pack at No. 6, followed by No. 8 San Augustine (8-4), No. 11 LaPoynor (16-5), No. 17 Broaddus (13-7), and No. 23 Tenaha (3-3).

In 1A D-II, Laneville (15-6) cracked the top five at No. 5. Oakwood (8-5) was No. 8, while Douglass (16-5) and Saltillo (16-7) were 13th and 14th, respectively. Kennard (11-5) was No. 22.

In Class 4A, Jacksonville remains undefeated and jumped to No. 12 thanks to its 22-0 start. The Indians host Hallsville on Tuesday before opening District 16-4A play at home Friday against Lindale.

The lone Class 3A East Texas team in the TABC poll was Pleasant Grove (13-7) at No. 18.
