  • offers from SMU, Texas State (per Van coach Jared Moffatt)

Van’s man in the middle, Syd Moore will be one of several impact defensive linemen who will make their presences felt in the 2012 East Texas high school football season.

Moore had 102 tackles and eight sacks as a junior, when he recorded a jaw-dropping 34 tackles for loss for a 10-win Van team that also featured all-state linebacker Dalton Santos (Texas). With recruiters already familiar with Van thanks to Santos, Moore should continue to gain interest. Moore is another of SMU’s many East Texas targets, but the playmaking defensive tackle should expect more Division I FBS offers as his senior season progresses, especially if he matches his production from a year ago. Moore could be a recruiting sleeper who garners a lot of attention by late fall.
