San Augustine is enjoying its best season since the 2003 state championship run, and one of the biggest reasons why is senior running back KJ Davis.

The electrifying playmaker helped the Wolves punch a ticket to the state semifinals with another solid performance last Friday night.

Davis ran for 180 yards and four touchdowns in leading San Augustine to a 50-14 rout of Centerville for the Class 2A Division I, Region III title.

For his efforts, Davis is the ETSN.fm/Dairy Queen Offensive Player of the Week. He follows last week's winner, Carthage quarterback Gunner Capps.

Davis did his damage vs. Centerville on only 16 carries, and scored on runs of 3, 14, 43, and 44 yards.

For the season, Davis has rushed for 2,303 yards and 33 touchdowns. And in the playoffs, he's taken off. In the Wolves' four postseason games, Davis has 895 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Davis and his San Augustine (14-0) teammates face defending state champion Refugio (12-1) this week in the state semifinals. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday from Cy Fair FCU Stadium in Cypress.
